Never Once

We sang this song at church a couple weeks ago and I can't seem to get it out of my head. As we got done singing my pastor stood up and said that as we were singing it he couldn't help but think of all the difficult times in his life and remembering how God was always there. And that was exactly what I was doing while we were singing. It was like I was seeing flashes of the hardest times in my life and seeing God right there with me.

It hit me in the face and has been hitting me in the face ever since then that God is so faithful and I've never once been without him. There have been times when He's seemed far away or times I've been angry with Him or so confused and hurt that it's been hard to have any faith at all. But He has always been faithful.

And through all of this I've learned that if I put God first and am always as faithful as possible in the small things that the big things will come. I'm trying really hard lately not to worry and just let God do His job. I tend to kind of be a control freak which means I'm not very good at letting go and seeing what God can do. I think that's why this song has really hit home for me. I don't like thinking about the rough times in my life, but sometimes that needs to happen so I can remember that God will never leave me. And once I can get my brain wrapped around that I can give up some of my control and let God do His work through me.
